MR

Medium Rigid (MR class) is the fourth-highest ranking class of the five categories of a heavy vehicles licence. Heavy vehicles include all motor vehicles over 4.5 tonnes. MR class generally pertains to all motor vehicles that have 2 axles and a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) higher than 8 tonnes. This vehicle assessment, however, may vary based on the state.

MR class licence allows you to drive most motor vehicles or combinations except for vehicle combinations that qualify for the higher heavy vehicle licence classes – Multi Combination (MC class), Heavy Combination (HC class), and Heavy Rigid (HR class) – or motorcycles. This licence is generally required for general freight delivery, route bus, and food products transport.

Heavy vehicle licencing is administered by state and territory road authorities and thus licence eligibility requirements per state often vary.
