HC

Heavy Combination (HC class) is the second-highest ranking class out of the five categories of a heavy vehicles licence. Heavy vehicles include all motor vehicles over 4.5 tonnes. HC class generally pertains to a prime mover with an attached single semi-trailer (plus any unladen converter dolly) or any rigid motor vehicle with an attached trailer that has a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of at least 9 tonnes. However, the vehicle assessment may vary slightly based on the state.

HC class licence allows you to drive most motor vehicles or combinations except for vehicle combinations that qualify for Multi Combination (MC class) or motorcycles. This licence is generally required for container transport, road construction driving, and heavy general freight.

Heavy vehicle licencing is administered by state and territory road authorities and thus licence eligibility requirements per state often vary.
