WEX Motorpass
WEX Motorpass is one of the fuel cards we recommend most often for businesses that need broad coverage without being tied to a single brand network. It’s practical, flexible, and works across metro and regional Australia — which matters more than most businesses realise until a driver is stuck somewhere with limited options.
The network reach is the headline feature. Over 6,500 service stations accept WEX Motorpass, covering roughly 90% of fuel sites nationally. That includes BP, Ampol, Shell, 7-Eleven, United and a large number of independents. If your drivers are on the road across different regions, that breadth of acceptance is genuinely difficult to match.
Beyond fuel, WEX Motorpass can also be used for tyres, batteries, servicing, car washes, parking and accommodation — depending on the merchant. For businesses trying to consolidate fleet expenses under one account, that scope reduces the number of payment methods drivers need to carry and makes end-of-month reconciliation considerably simpler.
The reporting tools are solid. Statements are ATO-compliant and capture transaction-level detail including vehicle ID, driver ID and odometer readings. Data exports into most accounting and fleet management systems without much friction, which cuts down on manual entry and gives finance teams better visibility over what’s actually being spent.
Account controls are straightforward too. Businesses can set limits by product type, dollar amount and authorised user, and cards can be blocked or unblocked quickly through the online portal or app. For larger fleets, having that level of control without needing to call anyone is worth a lot in practice.
The WEX Motorpass app lets drivers locate nearby participating sites and compare fuel options on the go — useful when someone’s mid-route and not familiar with the area.
Who is WEX Best For?
WEX Motorpass suits businesses that prioritise coverage and reporting over chasing the lowest per-litre price at one chain. If your vehicles operate across different regions, or you want fuel and vehicle expenses managed under a single account, it’s one of the stronger all-round cards worth putting on your shortlist.
